In Yr 7 and Yr8 7 boys have one or in some cases two science teachers who teaches them each of the sciences as discrete Chemistry, Physics and Biology modules of work whilst drawing upon and consolidating the overarching science skills.
Beyond Yr 8 the sciences are taught by different teachers with the AQA 9-1 specifications being taught. The study of the Sciences including Geology at A Level are popular choices with the OCR specifications studied in each subject area. Further information can be found in each of these subject areas.
Many science enrichment opportunities are available throughout the year to further the interest of the boys in addition to widening their understanding of the application of the sciences to our everyday life.
Almost all of the Science teaching is carried out in the newly refurbished, well equipped, specialist accommodation; there are 8 well equipped laboratories and a Science Classroom used for A Level teaching and independent study. All accommodation is equipped with PCs, data projectors and interactive whiteboards.
Laboratory and practical provision are excellent with a wide range of experimental apparatus in each area. The department has excellent technician support which facilitates subject teaching centred on developing practical scientific skills.
