Basketball has been firmly established since the opening of the Sports Hall in 2004. It remains incredibly popular and is covered in both Key Stages in core PE and a comprehensive extra-curricular programme. The basketball teams at BWS have an excellent record of success in competition against local schools. We have also made it to the Quarter Finals Nationally in 2017 with the U14’s.
We compete annually in 4 age groups (U14/16/17 and 19) in the Dynamik National Schools Competition. Alongside the National competition, the Seniors Compete in a South West League against some of the prestigious public schools in the Region, in which we are current Champions.
Due to the popularity within the school BWS is now the base for both the Salisbury Sparks Junior Club for U12/14 and 16’s and the Salisbury Suns Men’s. Several boys have represented the South West, competing in International Tournaments in France and the Czech Republic. We have even produced a Welsh International!!
Positive links between the school and the club give boys a great opportunity to further their involvement in the sport.
