As the newly appointed head of cricket at BWS I am fully aware of the talented cricketers in the school who regularly play for clubs in the Wiltshire and Hampshire leagues as well as at county level.

Although limited by facilities, my direction will be to help develop young cricketers at BWS to become more successful in their external endeavours. BWS works in alliance with the county coaching clinics where we are a centre of excellence for the county practice off-season using our indoor lanes in the sports hall.

It is my intention to reintroduce regular fixtures at various age groups this academic year. We intend to participate in the Wiltshire Cup and various invitational T20 competitions.

More recently, our Year 8 team competed in the Cathedral School 6’s competition with seven other schools and the boys won the event with a four off the last ball of the final.

The high spot of the cricket season is the annual Paul Collins trophy where a staff team take on the Year 13 team in a closely fought T20 match. The boys are the current holders narrowly winning by 4 wickets last summer.
