After winning both age groups at the district round BWS advanced to the county finals one step away from regional competition which they missed out on last year.
Both the KS 3 and Ks4 teams started strong winning their first matches. The KS4 team then had a long layoff before their next while the KS3 continued to dominate their opposition. Once the KS4 team did get back in the action it was against an outstanding Devizes team who won the match and effectively ended the BWS assault on the title. The KS4 team of Munro, Tilley, Chaddock and O’Shaughnessy then had a miserable run of form despite some close results and excellent badminton coming fourth overall.
The KS3 boys of Outterside, Dibble, Chaddock and Bromfield faired far better and came up against their respective Devizes team in the last round for a straight shoot out. Despite losing the first doubles match, the tie was in the balance as BWS won two of the rubbers, but Devizes in the end prevailed and so move onto the regional round. The BWS KS3 team ended the day runners up and in the knowledge they will come back stronger next year.
Thanks must go to Simon Woodhouse and all his hard work with the boys.
