St John's (Marlborough) 55-67 BWS U16

Another good win for the yr 11’s. St. John’s were keen to try and split the fixture and not lose at home and so were much better in defence right from the start. Matthieu Rident did a great job of leading the team though and scored 10 of his game high 30 in the first period to secure an early lead.

The second was even tighter but we still edged it to extend the lead slightly. The third period brought about our best play though as we moved the ball effectively around their zone and scored some very nice team baskets. Our bigs had a tough time against their best player for the whole match, but Chris Nichols did a great job of containing him as much as possible. His defensive rebounds led to a number of fastbreak points but he also was a nuisance on the offensive glass and scored or created lots of second chance opportunities.

The starting 5 were excellent and scored 64 between. Woody and Nichols with 12 a piece and Dykes with 10.
