Once we walked into the gym it was clear we would not only be competing against the boys on the court but also against decades of Basketball history as identified by all of the Championship banners hanging from the rafters.
We were considerably smaller and it would be how well we could keep them out of the paint and off of the boards. Our Zone defence was the perfect remedy for this as we forced them to shoot predominantly from outside. The game was tight for the duration with us just edging it 27-23 at the half. Without Nichols on the court we lost our size and they capitalised to take it to 40-40 at the end of the third.
Their bench was their Achilles heel though in the end as their starters ran out gas and we used the clock effectively to keep them chasing the ball. The starting five were superb and combined for 49-Rident (20), S. Grant(13), O. Grant (10) and Francis (6).
