The U18’s completed their sweep over St. John’s with a solid away win. They adopted a very static and stagnant 2.1.2 Zone defence in an attempt to slow the game down and limit our scoring. To their credit they managed to achieve this and the game was much tighter than the home fixture.
In contrast our defence was very active as we strived to force turnovers. Unfortunately we were a little over zealous and consequently committed way too many fouls. Mercifully St. John’s only made 9 of their 30 free thows in the game. We also lacked continuity as I had to rotate numerous playing in attempt to avoid losing players through personal fouls.
Iestyn Williams once again demonstrated his value to the team as he finished with a game high 20. Merry pitched in with another 10 including a buzzer three to end the 1st period.
