The U12 team went to a windswept John Hanson to take on Wellington in their Salisbury and District football final. With a strong cross pitch wind most of the play was confined to the left wing initially as BWS pressed on. Due to this Kenyon on the right wing found himself in acres of space to enable continual sorties down his flank.
Eventually this led to the opening goal with Street darting in from the left wing to convert a great cross. At the turn of half’s the wind was with BWS and this time we made great headway down the left with Kenyon still time coming off the right to twist and turn and half volley into the net.
At 2-0 the game was by no means over with Wellington offering strong resilience and some big boys in the middle. Crossley popped up in the middle to head home his first goal of the season from a corner while a great ball from Covil unleashed Street again who cut one way and then the other to steer a left foot screamer into the bottom right corner.
4-0 up and the game out of sight as the clock ran down BWS continued to press but a fifth was beyond grasp and so a handsome four has to suffice and a trophy to boot. Some of the best Y7 football I have had the pleasure to watch and a well-deserved win and finale to the season.
Well done boys
