BWS 2nd XV 14-44 Canford School

Following on from a win against Sherborne the previous weekend, this result provided a bit of a bump back to earth.

A solid opening five minutes within the Canford 5 metre delivered frustration rather than points and was followed swiftly by a Canford breakaway try that really knocked our confidence. The opposing team became increasingly bold, showing accuracy and organisation in their play which led to a 0-22 half time score line and a lot to think about for the Bishops blues.

With a new found vigour BWS smashed straight into Canford at the restart and went through six or seven excellent phases for a try on the left wing. During one of these phases captain Dan Whittaker sustained a serious knee injury which led to a break in play and a change of pitch.

This threw his team-mates a little and although resolute in their attitude, exemplified by Alex Russell leaving with a broken nose, Canford ran away with the game in the second half.

Finishing with the final score of the game BWS did show pride and determination to stick at an increasingly difficult task and must now pick themselves back up for a big couple of games in the next few weeks.
