I have had some drumming’s down at Sherborne over the years, but have gradually got closer and closer in terms of a result. This was my first win over Sherborne at U16 level and I couldn’t have been prouder of the boys.

Having lost here earlier in the season right at the death, this was a huge result and marker for the boys. They have grown week on week and learnt from previous matches to put together an enviable run of results defeating three top public schools along the way and remaining unbeaten this side of half term.

The game looked like it could have gone either way, but in reality the end result was always going to be decided by BWS, they were the team scoring the trys, but also letting Sherborne score theirs. In the end they dug in and repelled a bigger Sherborne pack as they scrummed down three times in our 22, only to be turned away and held up time and time again.

You could see from the boys reaction how much the result meant and it means their season continues with a Cup Final against Canford to come. The best display I have seen from a BWS side, showing fantastic character and team spirit. Well done boys.
