Despite horizontal rain the first competitive match of the senior season got under way at Dauntseys who boasted a team unbeaten in a few years and fancied themselves as favourites.
After the single rubbers it was 4-4 with Benson and Barry winning their singles while Rident and Easterbrook slipped to defeat. Benson and Easterbrook then lost their doubles, meaning the other pair had to win to take it to a Championship Tie Break.
They came through winning 6-2 and it was again the same pairing that played the tie break running out 10-5 winners and pipping the match for BWS. A stern examination of our tennis form was carried out by Dauntseys, but our winning mentality and dogged determination came through.
A solid start to the league. Writhlington next on Wednesday 5th November away.
