Tennis was reinstated at BWS five years ago, following an exodus of twenty years from the school curriculum.
We now play Curriculum tennis in Years 7-10 and have teams competing at all levels of the Aegon National Schools Competition as well as representing in the finals of the Wiltshire School Games.
Our base is at Salisbury Tennis Club which has excellent facilities and coaches. All boys are coached by the Club so that they get the best possible start and development to the game, and our tennis squads receive extra tuition with weekly training sessions.
In 2015 we reached the last 8 of the Aegon National Schools Senior competition in Bolton for the first time in the school’s history finishing third overall. Coupled with the Year 8 team winning their group and progressing to the knockouts of their competition, it has been the most successful year for the school.
Tennis is now established as one of our most successful Summer sports.
The tennis is run by Mr Demain-Griffiths who also organises the school Road to Wimbledon competition which this year saw 100 boys from the lower school take part, with the winner going onto represent at the County Finals.
